Justin Waayenberg – Vice President
I spent 6 years in the Army as a Cavalry Scout and was deployed to Iraq in 2008. After getting out of the Army, I moved to Montana and started working at Adipose Boat works in 2010. I became involved with Mending Waters Montana through Adipose Boat works that same year. After going on a few trips and doing the fly tying class, I wanted to start giving back. In 2015, I started volunteering and became a board member that same year.
Bill Long – Treasurer
Bill grew up fishing. His dad, in addition to being a WW II vet, grew up fishing and passed it on. He’s honored to pass on his love of fly fishing through MWM.
Shalon Hastings – Board Member
After owning and operating two downtown businesses for a combined 20 years, Shalon sold them in summer 2019 to pursue a full time fly fishing guide and instruction career. In addition to serving on the Mending Waters Montana Board, she also serves on the Pat Barnes Missouri River Trout Unlimited Board. She founded Last Chance Fly Gals, a women’s Facebook networking group that connects members with fellow fly fishing partners in March 2018.

Joel Silverman has a true love for all things fishing. While he did not serve in the military, his grandfather’s stories about his fellow WWII vets had a tremendous impact on his life. Those stories and Joel’s connections through Montana Mending Waters have led Joel to work with veterans in the areas of fly-tying, fishing and he has even helped a couple of veterans become fishing guides. When not on the water, Joel can be found at his offices in Helena or Bozeman, working with clients on their estate planning or business matters. He is a true entrepreneur and is involved in a multitude of businesses.
